National Recovery Month: Hope, Healing, and Help at New Horizon Health Center

11 Aug 2025

Every September, communities across the country recognize National Recovery Month, a time to raise awareness about substance use disorders, celebrate the courage of those in recovery, and highlight the resources available to support individuals and families. At New Horizon Health Center (NHHC), we are proud to stand alongside our community, offering compassionate, affordable, and comprehensive care for anyone affected by addiction.

The impact of drug overdose, often referred to as drug poisoning deaths, continues to grow in Texas. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, more than 5,000 Texans lost their lives to overdose in 2022, a number that has increased by more than 75% over the past five years. Opioids, including fentanyl, remain a leading cause of these preventable deaths, with some populations facing even greater risks.

This crisis underscores the importance of early intervention, treatment, and ongoing recovery support.

At New Horizon Health Center, we believe recovery is possible for everyone. Our Behavioral Health Services provide patients with a full spectrum of care, including:

  • Individual and group counseling

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders

  • Treatment planning and management tailored to each patient

  • Bilingual, culturally competent providers who understand our community

Our dedicated providers, including board-certified physicians, licensed chemical dependency counselors, and physician associates, are here to walk alongside patients at every step of their recovery journey.

No one should have to choose between getting help and being able to afford it. At NHHC, you can access care even without insurance. Services are available on a sliding fee scale based on family income, with visits starting as low as $5.

If you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, you are not alone. Help is available, and recovery is possible.

Call 956-548-7400 or visit newhorizonhc.org to make an appointment today.

This National Recovery Month, let’s come together to reduce stigma, support recovery, and save lives.
